Fire Department Efficiency Assessment

The City of Long Beach engaged PFM and a partner firm, Tri-Data, to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the Fire Department's workforce, operational practices, station location, and fees. PFM developed workforce and cost recovery analyses, based upon thorough review of the Memorandum of Understanding, analysis of comparable California jurisdictions, analysis of Department staff pay and benefits, and client interviews that led to initiatives that would achieve multimillion dollar savings and cost recovery once fully put in place.
